NASCAR is known as a high-speed spectacle, and drivers do not shy away from contact in the process. On Sunday, there was another race changing crash. Austin Dillon rammed Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin at Richmond Raceway on the final lap, which sent Dillon through to the playoffs. iRacing, the sim racing game Max Verstappen drives in with Team Redline, shared and reacted to the incident on X.

Last lap NASCAR incident sends Dillon to playoffs

Dillon had victory in his sights when a wreck with less than two of 400 laps remaining sent the race into overtime. Logano jumped Dillion but was rammed off the track by him at turn 3 on the final lap. Logano then hit Hamlin's car, allowing Dillon to take the lead and his first win in two years. The driver of the No 3 car was not penalised for the incident.

In the end, it is Dillon's name that will go into the books as the winner of the race. The Richard Childress Racing driver secured an unexpected spot on the grid in the post-season. However, he is not expected to have it easy for the remaining races, as Logano and Hamlin may be out for revenge.

iRacing, the sim racing game in which Verstappen competes in virtual sim races on behalf of Team Redline, shared the incident on X, captioned: 'Please don't do this in iRacing'.
