Andretti FE announce driver: 'That's the target'
- Ludo van Denderen
Jake Dennis, former Formula E world champion, will have a new teammate at Andretti's team next season. Nico Müller comes over from ABT Cupra. In turn, the Swiss replaces Norman Nato, who has to pack his bags at the American team after just one season.
In an exclusive chat with GPblog a few months ago, Müller talked about how difficult it is to compete for crumbs at a small team like ABT. With Andretti - which team use the Porsche powertrain - he can finally compete for the title. He may combine that with an adventure with Proton Motorsport, Porsche's customer team in the World Endurance Championship. There is already speculation that Müller will move on to the official Porsche team after next season in both Formula E and WEC.
Müller looks forward to new challenge
"I’m very excited to join the Andretti Formula E Team," said Müller. "It’s a team that has seen success from the very beginning of the championship, particularly in the GEN3 era in their partnership with Porsche Motorsport. To work with Jake, a former World Champion is an honour and I’m looking forward to the opportunity. I’m going to give it my very best to contribute to the team’s success and hopefully aim for some podiums and my first Formula E win – that's the target. I can't wait to get going."
At Andretti, Müller will thus become Jake Dennis' teammate. The Briton finished seventh in the championship last season. In addition to his work in the FE, Dennis is one of Red Bull Racing's sim drivers. During FP1 for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in '23, he replaced Max Verstappen. Later, Dennis was active in the final test of the F1 season.
