What could Sainz bring to Williams? 'Looking forward to that'
Over the summer break, Williams team principal James Vowles announced that Carlos Sainz will become Alexander Albon's teammate from 2025 onwards at the British team. The Thai-British driver had the chance to first react to the aformentioned announcement in Zandvoort.
"He obviously brings a lot of experience. He's a very highly rated driver and it's good to have him on board," Albon first said about his future teammate talking to GPblog among others ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix.
'Fresh ideas' expected of Sainz
The former Red Bull driver awaits Sainz's ideas how to improve their car this upcoming season. "[I'm] Especially interested to see what his feedback is. He has been at top team and being at Ferrari, similar to where I was at with Red Bull when I came across, you kind of have a lot of things that you want to try and change and things which he would have found over his time with the new generation of cars that he can bring over to Williams and have direct change and see where our weaknesses are," he explained.
So far in 2024, Albon and Williams have scored four points, and team principal Vowles commented multiple times on the car's weight issues. Therefore, he looks forward to a fresh assessment given by the Spaniard. "I've spent three years now driving Williams and you kind of get quite used to driving that and it's nice to have that fresh look on things, especially for it to be at a top team, it always helps," the driver added.
