Vowles reacts to Sargeant crash in FP3 Dutch GP

More grief for Williams: 'I'm more worried about that'

Team boss James Vowles reports that Williams has enough parts to fix Logan Sargeant's car after his horror smash during FP3 but is worried about the lack of spares that would leave the team with. Vowles also reported that Sargeant was fitted with new upgrades the British team are introducing this weekend.

Logan Sargeant skidded off the track during the third free practice session at Zandvoort. It was a huge blow for the American, who saw his Williams go up in flames even before he got out of the car. Many marshals and fire extinguishers had to be called in to extinguish the Williams car. Fortunately, Sargeant is okay.

Can Williams repair the car?

Williams have introduced upgrades this weekend. The team confirmed to GPblog that Sargeant was running with all the major upgrades.

The Williams team have a huge job to repair the car ahead of qualifying. The car arrived back in the pitlane with just under three hours until the start of qualifying. Earlier in the season, Alex Albon crashed in Australia, but they had to take one car out of the Grand Prix due to a lack of a spare chassis. In the following months, Williams introduced more parts, but are still stretched.

"Yes is the answer [enough spares]. But there's a limited amount. If something happens now to the other car, you have to make sure you have enough spares in Parc Ferme. When we are in those conditions, can we service both cars? That's what I'm more worried about," Vowles told Sky Sports.
