Lando Norris has outperformed his rivals in qualifying for the Dutch Grand Prix, and will start from pole position on Sunday. The Briton expects a tough battle with Max Verstappen during tomorrow's Grand Prix.

Norris was the only driver to set a lap time quicker than 1:10 in Zandvoort. "An amazing day. Nice to be back and start with a pole. It was a nice lap. Qualifying was always pretty smooth and we did some good laps, especially the one at the end. Great job by the team and I'm happy," Norris judged his performance immediately after he got out of his car to Jolyon Palmer.

He added: "I felt comfortable out there. The car felt amazing. We had some upgrades and everything is working very well."

Norris expects tough battle

Although the Briton was more three tenths quicker than Verstappen, the Dutchman also qualified on the first row of the grid. Norris foreshadowes an interesting battle between him and the Dutchman on Sunday. "I'm excited for tomorrow. I'm sure it will be tough. Max has been quick all weekend. I know we got him today but he's still second and will put up a good fight, especially at his home race," he concluded.
