is Norris worried about start from pole position at Dutch Grand Prix
24 August at 16:10

Lando Norris is not concerned about his performance off the line ahead of Sunday's Dutch Grand Prix. The British driver has been beaten at the start in recent races but is confident he has done enough work on the problem to avoid a repeat.

Norris will start from pole position at Zandvoort. Just when it looked like Max Verstappen might 'just' surprise and secure pole himself, Norris smashed his time by more than three-tenths. But his teammate Oscar Piastri couldn't put distance between Norris and Verstappen.

In Hungary, Norris felt like he lost the race at the start. He was beaten by Piastri off the line and lost his pole position at the first corner. The subsequent undercut issue and radio bickering could've been avoided. In Belgium, Norris dropped backwards and lost out at turn one again. That mistake put him closer to Max Verstappen and under pressure whilst his teammate finished on the podium.

Is Norris concerned about the start of the Dutch GP?

Norris brushed off any concerns. "It's obvious. I know my starts have not been my forte. They’ve not been bad, honestly, I'm still up there with being one of the best average starters. I just missed out on a couple of races, and maybe slightly worse than what it's been over the course of a season, but there are a couple of times when they've not been quite where they need to be," Norris said.

"A couple of times I've been on the front row. They've not been for any certain reason. It's been different things each time, but I feel confident. I put in a good amount of work to try and make my starts a bit better, and tomorrow's a new day," Norris concluded.
