Franco Colapinto will finish the season at Williams. The Argentine originally competed in Formula 2 this season on behalf of MP Motorsport, but he will no longer be in action there this season. But who actually replaces Colapinto?

The Argentinian's replacement is called Oliver Goethe. He is a Danish-German driver competing with a Monegasque racing licence. He originally drove on behalf of Campos Racing in Formula 3 this season, but has been called to make the step up.

He will get four race weekends in Formula 2 2024. The Formula 1 step-up class will be in action at Monza this weekend, followed by Baku (September), Qatar (December) and Abu Dhabi (December). As each weekend will feature both a sprint race and a feature race, Goethe will get eight chances to score points.

Goethe ready for the step up

Goethe himself thinks he is ready for the step into Formula 2: "Although I haven’t got any experience in this F2 car, the two seasons I spent in FIA F3 gave me a great foundation for this step."
