It is no surprise Charles Leclerc was overjoyed after his impressive win in the Italian Grand Prix. The Ferrari driver won in front of the frenzied tifosi, who were present in large numbers at the Monza circuit.
Leclerc over the moon after Ferrari home win at Monza
"It is an incredible feeling," began Leclerc, who has already won the Italian GP back in 2019. "I thought the second time, if there was a second time, would not feel as special as the first, but the emotions over the last few laps were the same as 2019. I want to win Monza and Monaco every year and I have managed to do so. It is so, so special. The tifosi were incredible, mamma mia!"
Asked whether Ferrari will also be in good shape for the Formula 1 race in Baku, Leclerc does not yet dare to make any predictions. "Our package was working well on a track like Monza but whether it will be the same for the rest of the season I doubt. I still think McLaren are favourites but we have done a step forwards, that's for sure," the Ferrari driver explained.
"Baku is a pretty nice track for me, so maybe we can achieve something special there," the Monegasque driver concluded.
