Sergio Perez satisfied with f1 qualifying for baku 2024

Perez outqualifies Verstappen in Baku after 'difficult period'

14 September at 15:46

Sergio Perez could complete a strong qualifying in Azerbaijan. At a track he likes very much, the Mexican finished ahead of his teammate, Max Verstappen, for the first time in qualifying in this year. The Mexican was happy with his performance and Red Bull's progress.

On his last flying lap in Q3, Perez made a small mistake. Still, the Mexican was satisfied with his result after the session. ''I didn't get my best Sector 2 which is unfortunate on the one hand,'' the Mexican began telling GPblog among other media.

Perez feels good in updated RB20

Perez has been struggling with the RB20 for a long time, however, after qualifying in Baku, he declared he now feels better. ''I think the team has done a tremendous job on bringing the upgrades to correct the issues we've been having. We just need more in the same direction. The team is pushing flat out.''

The Mexican believes his team have brought one of the best updates in some time. ''We’ve had a very difficult period in the last few races, but I think we are definitely making progress. I think it's probably the biggest progress we've made with the car since the beginning of the year. So hopefully that can translate onto race pace tomorrow as well. And yeah, we just have to keep on that direction,'' Perez said.
