Fourth DRS zone and more adjustments made for 2024 Singapore Grand Prix
Ahead of the 2024 Singapore GP, new modifications have been made to the Marina Bay Street Circuit. The biggest adjustment is the addition of a new, fourth DRS zone to the circuit. As a result, Singapore now has the most DRS zones on the calendar, alongside Australia.
Modifications to Marina Bay Street Circuit
Changes have been already introduced to the Singapore circuit last year, as there is now a 400-metre-long straight at the spot where Turns 16-19 used to be. For this year, turns 3, 9, 10, 12, 14 and 17 have also been resurfaced. The new DRS zone will be between Turn 14 and Turn 16. This DRS zone has been introduced to help make overtaking a lot easier on the street circuit.
New maximum speed in pit lane Singapore
The pit lane has also undergone changes. Previously, the maximum speed in the pit lane was 80 km/h, but this year the maximum speed has been now changed to 60 km/h. This could have a big impact on strategies, as drivers will lose around 28 seconds on average with the adjusted speed.
Furthermore, Pirelli will take the softest tyre compounds to Singapore. The C3 will be the hardest tyre available, the C4 will be the medium and the C5 will be the soft compound at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in 2024.
