Vasseur responds to Verstappen comments: 'That's good in Singapore!'
Ferrari have done well in recent race weekends, as Charles Leclerc managed to win their home Grand Prix in Monza, and then the Monegasque driver finished second in Baku. GPblog asked team principal Frederic Vasseur about Max Verstappen's comments in Azerbaijan, as according to the Dutchman, that is because Ferrari's performance is very good on particular the current set of circuits
Vasseur responds to Verstappen
Ferrari's performance in the 2024 is up and down. One race the team is competing for victory, but then their performance disappeared, similarly to what happened in Canada after Leclerc winning in Monaco. Verstappen therefore claimed that Ferrari's recent good performance is because of the calendar.
Vasseur was asked by GPblog whether Verstappen's statements were true. The Ferrari team principal answered, "If it's track-specific, it's good, because next weekend it's the same corners."
Problems for Ferrari after Singapore?
GPblog then asked what would be a positive outcome for the Italians in Singapore. "The race after Singapore, we'll have a break between Singapore and Austin. We'll have time to discuss about Austin, but first it's Singapore, and I want to have a good result in Singapore, as we did last year, to fight our competition," Vasseur added.
The Ferrari team principal concluded: "We're in a good trend, and we have to continue like this to score more points than today for sure. But the pace was there all the weekend, from the first lap of FP1 to the end of the race, and this is the most important. If we can have more points next week, but the same pace, it would be a good step forward."
