Verstappen predicts a 'long and tough' battle in Singapore

Max Verstappen was a man of very few words during Saturday's press conference, as he protested against his punishment for swearing during Thursday's. Although he refused to answer most questions, he was up for talking two hours before the Singapore Grand Prix today. During the Driver's Parade, the Red Bull Racing driver was asked about this weekend and the race. It seems it won't be easy, for anyone. 

"It was a good turnaround, so I'm happy with that. I hope we can have a strong race today. It's going to be a long and tough race for everyone for sure, but I hope that we have a good race car," Verstappen said. The three-time world champion added that he does have confidence in a good race finish. He starts P2 today behind Lando Norris. Just 59 points separate the pair in the Driver's standings. 

Can Verstappen win in Singapore? 

This is the only circuit on the calendar where the Dutchman is yet to win. Last year, Carlos Sainz sealed the victory, becoming the only non-Red Bull driver to win in 2023. Asked how difficult it will be to fight for victory, the Dutchman responded, "Let’s see. It's always very difficult to judge where I will be in the race but I'm confident that we can have a good one." 

"I think we did the best we could with the information that we got from the long runs as well. We'll just go in there and try to have a good race and of course I hope to put a bit of pressure," Verstappen concluded.
