Relief for Verstappen's damage limitation: 'Bitten your arm off for that'
Max Verstappen didn't win the Singapore Grand Prix, but he did limit the damage as much as possible with Lando Norris being ultra-dominant. The Dutchman saw his lead cut by just seven points and Christian Horner suggests Red Bull were expecting a worse result than when the weekend started at the Marina Bay Circuit.
Red Bull were not on the pace on Friday. Verstappen finished 15th fastest in the second free practice session. Both Sergio Perez and Verstappen were seen making some mistakes, often using the run off zone. But Verstappen pulled a good result out of the bag in qualifying, and maintained that position in the Grand Prix.
Horner happy with P2 Verstappen
Horner is therefore happy with second place. "If you'd have offered us [that] on Friday, we'd have bitten your arm off for it. So, a good turnaround, congrats to Lando and McLaren, he was just simply too fast today," he told Viaplay.
The team boss continued: "But Max has done everything he can and had the rest of the field covered. So, we've got almost a month now to go away, and we need to find some performance."
