Mercedes will leave Singapore wondering what could've been. George Russell finished fourth, and Lewis Hamilton finished sixth in a race where The Silver Arrows would've hoped for more. According to Mercedes, both drivers were unable to visit the media pen as they recovered from 'the exertions' of the race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Russell and Hamilton needed time 'to recover' after the race

It was clearly a gruelling race for both Mercedes drivers. Arguably, the Singapore Grand Prix is the toughest on the calendar for drivers. The hot and humid conditions, in combination with the unforgiving street layout, can easily tire drivers physically and mentally.

Mercedes told GPblog: "Unfortunately neither George nor Lewis will be attending the media pen this evening as they recover from the exertions of this evening’s race. We will however offer a quote from both of them in due course."

The pair's efforts were overshadowed by those of McLaren's Lando Norris, who won his third Formula 1 race in dominant fashion in Singapore. The Brit cut into Max Verstappen's lead by another seven points and will be hoping for more strong performances to make his championship dreams come true.
