Helmut Marko admits he is 'alarmed' by the gap Lando Norris created during the Singapore Grand Prix. The external Red Bull advisor has demanded 'urgent' improvement as Red Bull's deficit to Red Bull grows drastically in the Constructors' World Championship. He is pleased F1 is about to enter a break.

Max Verstappen finished second, nearly 21 seconds behind Lando Norris in the Singapore Grand Prix. At one point, the gap was nearly half a minute at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Sergio Perez didn't recover from a poor qualifying performance and only scored one point. With two McLarens on the podium, McLaren extended their lead to 41 points in the Constructors' World Championship.

How Marko reacted to the Singapore Grand Prix

Marko is now alarmed at the performance delta. "It's crazy how he (Norris in the McLaren) drove away. Our deficit is alarming. We urgently need performance," the Austrian stated to Oe24.

There are six rounds left in the Formula 1 World Championship. Verstappen is 52 points ahead, but Norris closed the gap again. The F1 circus takes a month off as the United States Grand Prix doesn't take place until the 20th October. This is welcome news for Marko. "Thank God we now have four weeks to work on it. There is still a lot to be done."

The gap between the races is reminiscent of the summer break. however, F1 teams are now allowed to spend all their time at the factory. Red Bull previously spoke about how they expect to feel the benefit of their upgrades on the Austin circuit.
