Hamilton has a big dream: 'Now, unfortunately, I cannot do it yet'
- Ludo van Denderen
Lewis Hamilton travels all over the world with the F1 grid and also takes time in to pursue his goals in other fields, including films and fashion. The Briton has no time for a family right now, but that does not mean he would never like to settle down. Speaking to The Times, the seven-time world champion says he dreams of having children, but certainly not soon.
Hamilton is not currently in a relationship, but at some point in his life he would like to have one, and also have children. "One day," Hamilton said about when he will fulfill that dream. "I wouldn’t be able to do what I do to the level that I do it today with that," the busy Hamilton explained.
"One of my best friends has just had a kid and I’m seeing how manic it is. And my nieces and nephew are a handful. There will be a time and a place for it, and I can’t wait for that part. But right now I have some work to do," Hamilton continued. The seven-time world champion will join Ferrari in 2025, where he has a contract for the next two season.
Hamilton prays before every race
During the interview, Hamilton says he grew up as a Catholic, similarly to his idol, Ayrton Senna. Before every start, the Briton prays for everyone's safety at and on the track. Hamilton himself is not afraid of crashing, but hopes everyone will be fine once the chequered flag is waved.. "But still, we’re travelling at crazy speeds. You have to respect it. So that’s why I’m conscious of the time I spend with my family, with my mum, [like, is this] the last time I get to hug her? Because you just don’t know, nothing is guaranteed," he concluded.
