Hamilton hopes updates will help end his time at Mercedes' well

Hamilton and Mercedes have had one of the best driver-team partnerships that Formula 1 has ever seen, winning six of his seven world championships at the German team since joining in 2013. His performances at Mercedes have also seen him become the all-time Grand Prix winner in F1 history with 105 victories.

2024 has been an up-and-down season for the 39-year-old. There have been two wins for the Brit this season, with a very special one coming at the British Grand Prix, making it nine wins at Silverstone for the fan-favourite. However, a continued struggle to get to grips with a tricky W15, especially in qualifying, has put Hamilton on the back foot far too many times than he would have liked this season. For Mercedes, they have shown potential, but McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari have still shown more pace and consistency in 2024.

Hamilton "really hopes" the upgrades "work" in Austin

But Hamilton will be hoping for some improvement in the final six races of the season. Like Red Bull Racing, the German team are bringing upgrades to Austin, Texas. The seven-time world champion is hoping that these upgrades will catapult his W15 up the grid: "It's a good track, it's one of the best circuits for racing, so I'm looking forward to going there. And yeah, hopefully, our upgrades work there. I know the team are working incredibly hard to bring these upgrades. And over the last three years sometimes they work, sometimes they don't," Hamilton revealed.

"Sometimes it doesn't correlate perfectly to the wind tunnel and CFD, so I'm really hoping, fingers crossed, that we add it and it really works. Last year we brought an upgrade there and it was great, so I'm kind of praying that it does," the Brit concluded.
