Talking exclusively to our website, Guenther Steiner believes having Formula One Grands Prix in the United States are more important than having an American driver. After Logan Sargeant was let go by Williams, there are currently no drivers from the USA in the competition. "Formula One needs the presence to show that it is there for that country as well. It's the biggest economy in the world," the former Haas F1 team principal began. Currently, there are three Grands Prix in country, with the second weekend held now at COTA, and then the grid will later travel to Las Vegas this year.
Tyres always come up during a Grand Prix one way or another. Pirelli boss Mario Isola also talked about to exclusively to GPblog about the manufacturer's tyres for the upcoming Formula One season, as well as about feedback from drivers like Lewis Hamilton or Max Verstappen. McLaren and Ferrari warn rivals
After the autumn break, the Formula One season will now continue at the Circuit of the Americas this weekend. Ferrari are eager to continue to improve, as team principal Frederic Vasseur underlined both Charles Leclerc - who celebrates his 27th birthday today - and Carlos Sainz are ready for the US GP.
McLaren team principal Andrea Stella also declared that his team were able to "consolidate and strengthen our championship campaign". The Woking-based team currently lead the constructors' standings, however, Lando Norris still trails Max Verstappen fighting for drivers' title.
One of the question at the team remains the same: How could McLaren motivate Oscar Piastri to help his teammate? Something the team want to avoid is to finish the season like they did in 2007, said Tom Stallard (Piastri's race engineer), when Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton ended up finishing behind Kimi Raikkonen in the standings.
The team's former driver, Jenson Button and Gerhard Berger also both heavily suggest to favour Norris during the final six Grands Prix of the season, but according to Austrian, the team 'might come to regret' that they only started doing that this late into the season.
