Frustrated Zak Brown takes to social media and continues to defend Norris
Zak Brown has made his thoughts clear about the FIA stewarding during the United States Grand Prix in a viral social media post on X. In a post which was made a few hours after the conclusion of the Grand Prix, Brown continued to defend Lando Norris and said the stewards decisions in Austin were inconsistent.
McLaren were confident Lando Norris didn't need to give a place back to Max Verstappen because they thought the Dutchman forced the Brit wide. However, the stewards slapped Norris with a five-second penalty and that prevented him from cutting his World Championship gap.
It's the key talking point after the United States Grand Prix, with many key figures inside and outside the paddock expressing their viewpoint. Mercedes boss Toto Wolff even questioned whether the stewards were being 'biased' after George Russell got a penalty for forcing Valtteri Bottas off the track earlier in the race.
Former F1 world champion Damon Hil also made his thoughts clear. "I'm not convinced the stewarding was consistent in that race. But Lando went deep to pass and did so off the track. That said, Max did not give him space on the exit and barged him off the track in turn 1 lap 1. The rules need to be better," Hill wrote on X.
Brown replied to Hill's comments
McLaren CEO Zak Brown then responded to Hill's post. The McLaren CEO said: "Damon, I'm convinced it's not!" In doing so, he defended Norris's action, who lost his podium over Verstappen due to the five-second penalty.
