Chance to impress for Ferrari junior Shwartzman in Mexico City FP1

Robert Shwartzman will drive for Kick Sauber in FP1 at the Mexican Grand Prix this weekend. The Ferrari junior will be provided with some more mileage in an F1 car after most recently coming in to drive in a rain-affected FP1 in Zandvoort at the Dutch Grand Prix. The 25-year-old will be replacing Zhou Guanyu in the session and will hope to impress at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City.
Shwartzman has been a part of Ferrari's Driver Academy for many years, and because of the Scuderia's close ties with Sauber, Ferrari's talents usually drive with Ferrari-affiliated teams Sauber or Haas in order to provide them with experience in F1 machinery. Charles Leclerc competed for Alfa Romeo Sauber in his rookie year in 2018 before he made the switch to Ferrari in 2019.
