Sergio Perez dad is convinced Checo will become F1 World Champion

Antonio Perez, Sergio Perez's dad, is still absolutely certain Checo will become a Formula 1 World Champion before the end of his career. Antonio also pleaded with the Formula 1 world, suggesting they shouldn't give up on Perez because the best is yet to come.

Why Perez's dad thinks Checo should stay in F1

Sergio Perez is contracted to be Max Verstappen's teammate at Red Bull Racing for the 2025 Formula 1 season. But doubt has grown about his future due to poor performances. Despite Verstappen winning the sprint race and getting on the podium in the Grand Prix last weekend, Perez was unable to find improvements. In the United States Grand Prix, Perez finished last out of the top four teams (aside from Hamilton, who retired) and behind pitlane starter George Russell.

Before the race, Red Bull boss Christian Horner stressed the need for two strong drivers in 2025, but their position in the 2024 Contructors' World Championship is under threat again. Ferrari are within eight points and another good weekend for the Italian team could see Red Bull drop to third place. Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert suggested Red Bull should make a change before the end of the season, but Perez's dad is still confident in his son.

"The best of Checo Perez is yet to come. I am sure that in due course Checo will have the means to fight for the world championship. I am very excited and I can tell you that Checo will be world champion," Antonio Perez said in a conversation with Mexican Récord.

Perez will compete in his home race this weekend. At the same venue last year, Perez crashed out early after an ambitious overtaking move failed to pay off.
