Verstappen and Perez win this bizarre award: 'better than F1 wins!'
- Nicole Mulder
Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have won a very special award: arriving in Mexico for Perez's home race, the Red Bull Racing drivers were presented with a bizarre 'Couple Goals' award by MTV.
Verstappen and Perez win award for best couple:
Verstappen and Perez had several media activities scheduled on Wednesday. One of these was attending a football match where both Formula 1 drivers got to coach a team, as they did last year.
At the football match, the prize - a bright pink trophy in the shape of a cat - was presented to the Red Bull duo. Verstappen joked that Perez 'always wanted to win the prize'. "It's not about winning races or championships, everything is about this," Verstappen continued. Perez continued the joke: 'It's a dream come true, especially for Max,' the Mexican said.
A discussion then ensued: Who gets to take home the illustrious prize? Perez awarded it to his teammate, given his love of cats. Verstappen, on the other hand, wants Perez to take it home as he 'lives in Mexico anyway'. In the end, the pair agree that the trophy will go to Red Bull's Milton Keynes base to take the place of all the trophies Red Bull has previously won in F1 races.
