Verstappen jokes after US incident: 'You need a book in the car'

Max Verstappen admits the rules on what is allowed, and what isn't allowed are quite complicated in Formula 1. Speaking in Mexico, the Red Bull driver joked about the situation, but had serious undertones. Meanwhile, McLaren have lodged a Right to Review the penalty which Norris picked up at the United States Grand Prix weekend last time out.
Norris' overtaking move on Verstappen has been the talking point all week. In doing so, the Brit went off the track, complaining that Verstappen had pushed him there. Verstappen also went slightly off-track, but argued that he had the apex and was therefore entitled to third place. The stewards thought so too, penalising Norris with a five-second time penalty.
What is allowed and what is not? That has been a topic of conversation in Formula 1 forever. And yes, it has all become complicated, Verstappen believes. "I think we are getting to a stage where I almost need the book in the car," laughed the Dutchman in Mexico City. "That's how it is. I think if you look over the years, the book has grown quite a lot. There are more and more rules."
According to Verstappen, it's never good
"It is definitely overregulated, but then I can see the other point of if you take rules away and then there's again an incident like ‘oh we need more rules, no, we need to be really strong on this’. So it's the same thing, because in the past we have maybe some lesser rules and then you have the same argument, ‘we need to be strong on this or that’. So it’s always the same story," Verstappen said.
