Sergio Perez doesn't see permanent stewards at every F1 race happening

Perez sees solution to inconsistent penalties: 'Stay out of trouble!'

After the controversial battle between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris at the Circuit of the Americas last weekend, the stewards' incosistency and interpretation of the rule book has been the talk of the town in Formula One. Verstappen's teammate, Sergio Perez has a suggestion himself how to avoid similar penalties in the future.

Perez does not think permanent stewards are the answer

Currently in Formula One, there is a number of stewards that rotate between Grands Prix weekend. Therefore, the same crew do not make the decisions week in week out in the competition.

Sergio Perez believes however having the same stewards seems to be impossible given the work load. "I think with 24 races, there is no steward in the world that will be up for the job, first of all. And secondly, I think it's just a very difficult one because sometimes at the end of the day, the stewards, the two stewards you have can have a different opinion."

The Mexican thinks at the end of the day, every team will defend their own drivers, so someone will always be not happy with the outcome. "So you always feel like the decision works against you. What goes around comes around. So it's always very difficult in these things to have the best decisions. I think ultimately it's best not to get in trouble," the driver concluded ahead of his home Grand Prix.
