Helmut Marko thinks McLaren protest of penalty Lando Norris won't succeed

Red Bull's external advisor, Helmut Marko is not concerned about McLaren protesting the penalty Lando Norris received at the US Grand Prix. The Austrian believes the stewards' decision will not change, he told ORF.

A week long debate started following the 2024 US Grand Prix, whether the penalty Lando Norris should receive a penalty for overtaking Max Verstappen off the track in Turn 12. According to McLaren, Verstappen purposefully pushed his rival off the track.

An hour ago, McLaren had the chance to present new evidence. After the stewards take that into consideration whether they will overturn their previous decision. Zak Brown has already told Viaplay that it would be hard for the team to get the result they hope for.

Marko not concerned

The advisor believes Norris' penalty was justified, therefore he is not worried about Verstappen losing his third-place result at the US Grand Prix. "This requires new and serious facts, which we do not see in any way at the moment. According to the rules, it was very clear that this penalty had to be imposed," the Austrian said.
