Verstappen and Norris wisely keep quiet after conversation in drivers' meeting

On Friday, the usual briefing took place in Mexico City, just after the controversial battle and every driver getting the chance to share their opinion on the matter on Thursday's media day. Several drivers felt that Verstappen takes advantage of a grey area in the rule book when defending.

Following qualifying, it was Carlos Sainz who first began talking about the aforementioned meeting: "I think it was a positive productive meeting. I think a lot of drivers opened up about how they felt about each situation and what we think is the best way forward."

"How you interpret the rules and those driving guidelines that the stewards are going to apply penalties with, they're still the same coming into this weekend and probably I think they will be applied in a similar manner. But, I think moving forward, it was a productive meeting and I think in Qatar we will have some solutions that hopefully will offer, I think, better understanding for the driver and better racing in general. Yeah, hopefully it should be better," Sainz concluded. 

Verstappen does not elaborate

After Sainz finished, Verstappen kept his comments brief. "I think Carlos explained it perfectly," the Dutchman said. Lando Norris gave a thumbs-up, but he did not say a word about the matter.

Indeed, according to Sky Sports, that duo did spoke about the incident to each other during the meeting. "It was a lively drivers’ meeting in Mexico City overnight and there were direct exchanges between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen about defending and overtaking, but I’ve been told they were "calm" and "respectful," Craig Slater reported.
