Carlos Sainz could just go through a similar experience to what already happened to his compatriot celebrating his 400th Grand Prix this weekend, Fernando Alonso. The Spaniard has often seen his team improve just after he left for a new challenge. Now, as Ferrari on the rise, Sainz will leave for Williams next season.

Sainz is going to enjoy every podium with Ferrari

Continuing their good form from the Circuit of the Americas, Ferrari are once again in contention to achieve great results in Mexico City as well. After setting the quickest time in FP2 already, Sainz could claim pole position at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

Of course, the Spanish driver was happy with his performance and the currend upwards trending at Ferrari. The Italians are evolving into a team that could be a serious contender for the championships, but Sainz cannot reap the rewards of that in the 2025 season. He will join Williams, after Ferrari decided to sign Lewis Hamilton.

"Given how good the car is, how well I'm driving recently, you know, it's obviously optimistic going into the last five races," Sainz said. "At the same time, bittersweet because it gives me a feeling Ferrari might be in the fight for the World Championship next year and I will not be there to use it. And I feel like I've been quite a big part of this team during the last four years trying to prepare the team to fight for that championship next year."

While Sainz struggled to find words, he underlined he wants to finish his season on a high and enjoy these moments with his current team. "I don't know how to say it, but not with a very good feeling. But it's what it is. I'm going to try and, as I've said, win more races, stand on the podium for as long as I can during these five races and enjoy that. And then we will think about next year."
