Helmut Marko expects Red Bull in third place among constructors

Glass half empty for Marko? 'They will pass us as well'

While Max Verstappen manages to pleasantly surprise Helmut Marko with his strong performances, Red Bull's external advisor is not that positive about his team winning the constructors' title. Currently, the Austrians are 40 points behind McLaren in those standings with five Grands Prix and two Sprint events to go.

Perez doesn't help Red Bull

Helmut Marko has not given up on Red Bull defending their constructors' title, but once again saw that Sergio Perez's is not helping that cause. The Mexican once again got eliminated in Q1, this time in front of his home crowd. At least for Marko, Oscar Piastri also got eliminated early on with the Mexican driver.

It won't be easy for Perez or Piastri to score good points in Mexico, while both Ferraris finished inside the top four in qualifying. Currently, the gap between Red Bull and the Italians only stands at eight points. Talking to De Telegraaf, Marko said that he no longer believes the constructors' title is possible and second place in those standings is also not in the picture.

"They are going to pass us anyway, but I think they will also make it very difficult for McLaren," Marko commented on Ferrari. Coming second or third in the constructors' championship makes quite a difference, especially financially. According to Marko, the runner-up get to receive 7 million euros more than to the team finishing third in the standings.
