Debate | Stewards prove to be inconsistent again with Verstappen penalty

Verstappen got himself two 10-second time penalties. One for leaving the track and gaining advantage, and the second was for pushing another driver off track when battling Lando Norris. At the bottom of the stewards' verdict, these penalties are the standard for such cases.
However, that was not the case a week ago at the US Grand Prix, where drivers were given five-second penalties for similar maneouvres. Norris himself got a five-second penalty after he overtook Verstappen after leaving the track, and Russell also got a five-second penalty for pushing Valtteri Bottas wide.
Stewards lack consistency again?
That many were therefore surprised about the Dutchman getting a 10-second penalty for each incident following last weeekend is understandable. However, that penalty is not out of nowhere. After the US Grand Prix, there was much talk about the guidelines and many conversations during the drivers' briefing. Still, the rules for the weekend were exactly the same.
