Montoya amazed at this "unbelievable" skill that Hamilton has
Juan Pablo Montoya conveys amazement at Lewis Hamilton and his "uncanny" ability to make the correct driver transfers at every single opportunity. The seven-time world champion will be making the move from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 season in one of the biggest driver changes the sport has ever seen, and it's a move that has correlations to the move the Brit made back in 2012 when he said he was leaving McLaren for Mercedes.
Hamilton made his debut for McLaren in 2007, missing out on a drivers' world title win in his first season in the premier class of motorsport by just one point. A year later, however, he managed to become the world champion, and he continued to have success with the British team. However, during the 2012 season, it was announced that he was to be moving from McLaren to Mercedes.
At the time, it was considered a questionable move, changing from a team at the front of the grid to a team that struggled to even make it on the podium, However, it became one of the best moves in F1 history, with Hamilton going on to win six more drivers titles and become one of the greatest drivers the sport has ever seen. Now, after a couple of tough years at the German team, he will now move to Ferrari.
Once again, it was seen as a questionable move as Ferrari struggled to battle Red Bull and McLaren at the front of the grid. However, since coming back from the month-long autumn break, Ferrari have taken back-to-back wins, and they are showing real potential to become title protagonists in 2025. Yet again, it looks like another brilliant move made by Hamilton.
Montoya sees Hamilton challenging for yet another title
Speaking with InstantCasino.com, Montoya struggles to understand how Hamilton has been able to transfer to teams that fight their way to the front of the grid: "Every time Lewis [Hamilton] jumps ship, he does so to a winning car. It is remarkable. It is great for him and hats off to him. He goes to McLaren and starts winning. He leaves McLaren and everyone wonders why. They go to the back of the grid and Lewis goes to Mercedes and wins all those championships. It is uncanny."
With the Brit now making this seismic move to Ferrari next season, the Colombian driver believes that Hamilton will find himself back in the midst of a title battle with the Scuderia: "Ferrari are making such improvements and low and behold here comes Lewis. It is unbelievable. I don’t know how he does it but he always lands in a better place. Good for him, and it will be great to have Lewis in a Ferrari winning races and potentially the championship. That is a real possibility."
