Verstappen shines light on a possible South African Grand Prix

Formula 1 could make a return to Africa sometime in the next few years. This year's FIA gala will be held in Rwanda, which is also in talks with the FOM about hosting a Grand Prix. Meanwhile, South Africa is also still working on a return. How would Max Verstappen feel about racing on the continent? Lewis Hamilton has been vocal about that in the past.
Verstappen would welcome GP in Africa
Prior to the Brazilian GP, Verstappen was asked about the FIA Prizegiving Gala, which is being organised in Rwanda. He was also asked if he would consider racing in Africa. He is keeping quiet about the gala, but the three-time world champion is enthusiastic about a race in Africa.
A possible return of the race in Africa would mean racing on every continent. Verstappen sees that as something positive."In general, I think it would be great to have a race on every continent that we have. And I know that it was almost happening and then it didn't. I'm sure they are putting a lot of time and money in it to make it a success and also promote the country," Verstappen said.
The GP of South Africa disappeared from the F1 calendar in the 1990s due to non-compliance with FIA safety requirements. The circuit in Africa was home to the South African Grand Prix. A return was planned, but the organisers could not get the finances in time. Organisers still intend to make a return to the calendar, but Rwanda also hopes to host an F1 race in the future.
