Horner 'annoyed' by how long it took the VSC to be announced
Christian Horner has called the wait for the virtual safety car "annoying" but admits it's subjective and "is what it is". His rivals McLaren had the chance to swap the order of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris during the yellow flag period, allowing Norris to gain an extra point on his rival Max Verstappen.
How did Horner react to the VSC in the sprint?
Christian Horner told Sky Sports that he thought it was a long wait, but cannot say for sure that McLaren benefited. "These things are all subjective. If you look at it from our perspective, you'd say it took a long, long time to throw that VSC. He's walking away and there was still no VSC," Horner stated.
"But I'm sure in the control tower they have their reasons for doing that," the team boss added. "It's annoying, but it is what it is," he concluded.
Verstappen lost a further place because he picked up a penalty. The Dutchman went too fast during the VSC and the stewards handed out a five-second penalty. This means the gap in the World Championship stands at 44 points.
