New schedule in Brazil: Qualifying and Grand Prix to take place earlier
- Sandy van Wijngaarden
Qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix was postponed on Saturday due to heavy rain. The FIA then decided to postpone the session to Sunday morning. A precise time was unclear at the time, but the governing body recently announced it. The Grand Prix will also take place earlier to avoid the rain.
Just before the original time of qualifying, rain came pouring down. It soon became clear that there was no possibility of starting the session at the original time. The start time was then moved several times before the decision was made to move it to Sunday.
Soon after this decision, the FIA came up with an explanation. According to the governing body, the track was too wet and qualifying in those conditions was not safe enough. In doing so, the FIA wrote that a start time for Sunday would be communicated as soon as possible. Because there will also be a lot of rain later in the day, it was decided to bring the Grand Prix forward as well.
What time does qualifying and the Brazilian Grand Prix start?
So the new timetable has now been announced. Qualifying will start at 7:30am local time. This is 10:30am in the UK. The Grand Prix will then take place at 12:30pm local time. This is 15:30pm in the UK.
