Carlos Sainz caused the second red flag in Q2 at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The Spaniard lost control of his car at turn two and ended up in the wall. The rear of his car was completely destroyed, and his team now have a huge job on their hands before the race later on today. Sprint winner Lando Norris sits in the elimination zone before the restart.

In the second qualifying segment, it seemed a bit drier as Oscar Piastri swapped his rain tyres for the intermediates. Piastri was not immediately the fastest man on track but soon showed what was possible on the intermediates by setting a quicker time. In his second run, Piastri became the fastest man on the track with an improvement. As a result, the other drivers also opted for the intermediates.

It was not yet drier everywhere on the track, which Carlos Sainz proved as he lost control of his car and hit the wall on the inside of turn two. The red flag just under six minutes before the end of the segment was also a problem for Lando Norris. The Briton sat in 11th place, which would put him out of qualifying if he's unable to improve.
