Max Verstappen couldn't resist. As the Red Bull Racing driver sat in the press room for the press conference after his very convincing win at the Brazilian Grand Prix, he asked where the British press were.

After all, the British media had constantly grilled him about all sorts of negative topics in the weeks and days before, but after a great win at Interlagos, they were nowhere to be seen. However, some of the British journalists, including Sky Sports commentator David Croft, have defended their actions with explanations.

Earlier, Verstappen had expressed his frustration with the British press. "I have the wrong passport," the Dutchman reiterated in Brazil. Christijan Albers, former F1 driver, understands his compatriot's frustrations all too well. "It's a build-up to it. At some point, of course, you notice that those English press actually help McLaren with an English driver so much that it's almost not healthy anymore," Albers stated in a Telegraaf podcast.

Albers saw Verstappen getting his revenge

"If you are then opposed and you continuously get these nasty stories, at some point you get despondent about that. If that happens once, twice or three times, you think: 'Okay, we'll get over it and that's it'. But if that goes on for a whole year... And then you also have Max's second action in Mexico, in turn eight, that doesn't help either. Then there comes a moment, that when you perform so well, you really say: FU to everyone'," is Albers' response.

Incidentally, according to Albers who started 46 Grands Prix , the fact that Verstappen openly lashed out at the British cannot be separated from his sporting performance in recent months. The current analyst referred to the fact that Red Bull has been the third team in terms of car performance in recent times. "Let's be realistic: This victory was Max's and not Red Bull's."
