Verstappen jokes about F1's launch plan: 'Hope I'm sick'
Max Verstappen has joked he'll be sick on the night of the F1 car launches for 2025. All F1 cars will be unveiled at the O2 arena in London on 18 February in a special night to celebrate 75 years of Formula 1.
On Tuesday, F1 confirmed plans to host the special night in February in London. Usually, car launches are separate, with each team picking a date and launching with their own presentation. Besides the presentation of the cars, there will be live performances and other entertainment. Fans can attend the show. Tickets will go on sale this Friday.
What does Verstappen think about F1's plan?
Verstappen is known as a purist. He wasn't the biggest fan of sprint weekends when they were introduced, and he doesn't like too much fanfare, as was evident at the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix. The topic of F1's launch plan came up during a livestream, and Verstappen made a joke. "I hope I’m sick that week," said the Red Bull driver.
Some F1 drivers are really looking forward to the event. Mercedes driver George Russell shared the announcement on his Instagram story and expressed how he was excited about the night in February. Formula 1 hopes fans will be enthusiastic about the plans. The O2 Arena can accommodate as many as 20,000 visitors. Tickets can be bought from Friday.
