'Red Bull feared they were going to be the villains in the F1 film'
A Co-Producer of the upcoming film F1, Jerry Bruckheimer, has revealed Red Bull were previously worried about being portrayed as the bad guys in the movie. Bruckheimer explained how he had to convince the Austrian team otherwise. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton is also working as a Co-Producer on the film.
'F1' is heavily involved in the real Formula 1 world. For instance, lead actor Brad Pitt walked around the paddock during filming. This was also the case during the race weekend in Mexico when Pitt waved to the crowd for a shot.
Will the F1 film portray Red Bull as the bad guys?
Mercedes built the cars used in the film, and the Mercedes logo is also on the car. This raised eyebrows among the Red Bull Racing team. After all, the Austrian racing team is Mercedes' arch-rival. For this reason, the team hopes the makers will not portray them in a bad light.
"“The interesting part is that, since we teamed up with Mercedes, the other teams said ‘wait a second, this movie is going to be about Mercedes and we’re going to look bad’. Red Bull said ‘we’re going to be the villains’. It took us three years to convince them that they weren’t going to be the villains and we finally got to a place where all the teams are really leaning into us to really help us," Bruckheimer told Autosport.
The film "F1" will be released on 27 June in the United Kingdom.
