1996 Formula One world champion Damon Hill announced on Friday he would be leaving the Sky Sports F1 team. Via a message on X, the analyst, who had been working with Sky for 13 years, revealed the news. The English media has since responded to Hill's departure.

After 13 years of Hill working for Sky Sports, the partnership between the broadcaster and the former Formula One driver has come to an end. Hill was criticised in recent weeks after his comments about Max Verstappen. The 22-time Grand Prix winner wrote that he was looking forward to challenges.

British newspaper The Mirror asked Sky Sports for a reaction to Hill's departure. Billy McGinty, Sky Sports' director of F1, responded on behalf of the broadcaster to the departure.

"We thank Damon Hill for 13 incredible years with the Sky Sports F1 team, where he has been an integral part of our coverage, bringing unparalleled insight, expertise, and passion to our broadcasts. His unique perspective, shaped by his own legendary racing career, has entertained and excited fans worldwide. We wish him all the best in his next chapter," McGinty said.
