Sergio Perez's future has been spoken about a lot recently. On several occasions, there have been rumours that 'Checo' will leave Red Bull Racing. This did not happen and so his father, Antonio Perez, feels the media owes his son an apology. He directly targeted Ralf Schumacher.

Perez failed to get close to his teammate, Max Verstappen. As a result, Red Bull Racing is third in the constructors' championship, while Verstappen leads the drivers' championship comfortably. There has, therefore, been much speculation this season about what Red Bull will do with Perez's situation. Will he be replaced, or will he be allowed to stay anyway?

Perez's father over criticism of Ralf Schumacher

Ralf Schumacher was one of those who spoke out about Perez's future. However, father Perez is demanding an apology from former Formula 1 drivers, he stated in a conversation with ESPN: "They [the media] should at least apologise. There's a driver who was a Formula 1 driver, [turned] journalist. He first stated that Checo was already out of Red Bull. The following week he [Schumacher] came out of the closet."

Perez's father continued, "I don't know if he was in love with Checo. Do you understand it? There are many strange things. You no longer know if he is a journalist, a woman, a gentleman. But his opinion doesn't matter, not because of Checo Perez, but because of what his [ex-]wife said about him."
