Huge improvements at Ferrari: 'On the right track, but need to keep focus'
- Cas van de Kleut
Ferrari has made great strides in 2024. The team is still competing for the constructors' title, and on many weekends, the Scuderia have also competed for victories. Frederic Vasseur is, therefore, more than satisfied with the progress the team has made this year and is looking forward to a competitive 2025 season.
After a strong start when the current regulations were introduced, Ferrari's performance slumped. In 2022, the team still finished second among constructors, but the Scuderia was miles behind Red Bull Racing. After the first few races of the year, they had a serious dip in performance. In 2023, things took a turn for the worse. Ferrari finished third behind Red Bull and Mercedes. The battle with The Silver Arrows went all the way down to the final race in Abu Dhabi but were pipped in the end.
Vasseur stresses that Ferrari needs to keep the focus:
This year, things are different, Vasseur said in Las Vegas. "Last year we won one race, this year we are at five, and we score perhaps 50% more points than one year ago.
"For sure, we are on the right way but at the end, the evening of Abu Dhabi, we will be just focused on the classification, not on the numbers and the figures and for sure, the closer you are to the end, the more important the championship is. But the best way for us is to just be focused race by race, to be focused on this one, on the FP2 and then the FP3, and not to think about the championship because it's the best way to disconnect." Ferrari's team boss concluded.
