Alonso done with all the questions: 'The most frustrating part is the media'

In Las Vegas, another disappointing result followed for Aston Martin. Both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll got eliminated early on in Q1. The Spaniard managed to finish ahead of his teammate, and will start from P17 (not taking into account Franco Colapinto's incident). Still, he is not disappointed, as he accepted that is this is where things stand at the moment.
Fernando Alonso are yet to score points since the Singapore GP, while Lance Stroll has not finished inside the Top 10 since the weekend at the Hungaroring in July. In Las Vegas, both Aston Martins were then eliminated in Q1 already.
It is not the fact that Aston Martin are not making progress at the moment, but something else that bothers Alonso, he told GPblog among others. "The most frustrating part for me is the media. Because I'm not, nothing against you. It's just a part of the weekend that we try to explain to the fans and to you guys [journalists] and why we are here. But we are here and in Qatar we will be here and in Abu Dhabi we will be here," Alonso said, underlining that the situation will not change any time soon.
What bothers Alonso are the same questions all the time: 'What happened?' and 'What was wrong?' The two-time world champion revealed he is not frustrated about where they are at the moment. "We approach the weekends knowing our position, accepting our position. Not happy with it, let's be clear. But we cannot be frustrated just being in this position. We just need to learn to go forward as a team for next year's car, which is realistically the only moment that we have the possibility to get better."
By when will Aston Martin's fortunes change?
As the team have previously revelead, this is a long-term project. "The situation is not a problem. We are handling [it] okay. I think the hope for next year and for ‘26 is there and the team is just building the momentum with the new people and the new factory and everything. So we need to be patient now and we need to accept that it will take a little bit of time," Alonso concluded in Las Vegas.
