Formula 1 will officially announce next week that Cadillac F1 will join the competition in 2026. Press agency AP reports Saturday morning in Las Vegas that a power uni supplier has also been found for the 2026-2027 period. The new team would run those two years with Ferrari engines, although the Italians would not confirm this to GPblog. From 2028, Cadillac F1 will run with power units designed and built in-house.

So the official name of the new team will be Cadillac F1 and not Andretti Global - which was the intention for a long time. Michael Andretti recently stepped down from his own company and will also not have a role in the F1 team. That is going to be different for Mario Andretti. The former Formula One world champion will become an ambassador for the US team.

The FIA, too, have now expressed their support for Cadillac F1. Cadillac ares a brand of General Motors, one of the biggest car manufacturers in the world. For F1, it is very prestigious that this company want to enter the sport. F1 thinks that with GM on board, revenues will increase.
