George Russell took a comfortable victory in Las Vegas, leading home Mercedes 1-2. After the race, Russell admitted he didn't know how his car was so quick but was still delighted with the victory.

"I was planning on flying in a couple of hours, but I'm not getting on that flight," Russell admitted after the race with laughter. "It's been the dream of a weekend, I don't know how we've been so quick but I'm riding the wave now. Vegas is a crazy place, you see it all in the background. I can't describe the place."

Mercedes started topped all three practice sessions in Las Vegas before Russell took pole during qualifying. The Brit led the majority of the race in dominant style, with his only defence needed when Charles Leclerc attacked him early on. After that, Russell led comfortably. Hamilton started to get close during the closing stages, but Russell extended the gap back seven seconds.

"To get a victory here, dominant weekend, we couldn't have chosen a better place. I was just waiting for something to happen. The two races I've been on pole, it's been chaos. I felt confident and had a good gap, I was waiting for something to happen." The Brit concluded.
