Verstappen travelled to Qatar with family: 'Only see them ten times a year'

After winning his fourth world championship, Max Verstappen opened up about his family. Now, his family is with him in Qatar. Speaking to De Telegraaf, he once again stressed the importance of family.
During Verstappen's karting years, his family had to give up a lot. He was usually on the road with his father, Jos Verstappen, so he did not see the rest of his family much. This was one of the sacrifices he made to achieve his dream of becoming a Formula 1 driver.

This race weekend, Verstappen's mother, Sophie and his sister, Victoria, will be attending the race. Verstappen said it's "Very nice that they are here now. I see my mother and sister maybe ten times a year. That's not very much. I also realise how important my family is to me and that I should continue to enjoy them. My parents are in their early fifties. Time flies; I don't want to think later on that I spent too little time with the people around me."
Verstappen also mentioned how he celebrated after winning his fourth championship. "It's not that often you experience a party with a four-time Formula One world champion and the world's number one DJ. It was an excellent party. We should also be able to enjoy it a bit. The clubs in Las Vegas close down at some point, of course, but it was just fun with Martijn [Martin Garrix] and some other people. It was a fun night. Or morning, actually".
