Lawson still uncertain about future: 'Maybe I won't drive in F1'
- Cas van de Kleut
Liam Lawson is still in limbo over his future in Formula 1. The Visa Cash App RB driver does not know whether or where he will drive next season. Speaking to GPblog and others, the New Zealander elaborated a little on his situation
Lawson returned to Formula 1 following Daniel Ricciardo's exit after the Singapore Grand Prix. In Qatar, he was asked about his targets. "Overall, yes [I have met them]. It's been pretty strong over most of the races. I think we're in a good place. In terms of what I'm doing next year, I don't know. And there will be no sort of decision on that until, I think, after the season."
Lawson: 'Don't know if I'll be in F1 next year'
Lawson was then asked whether it is a question of not knowing where he will drive next season or a question of not knowing whether he will be in F1 at all. "I think right now I'm very focused on these races that I'm doing right now and I know that I'm being evaluated on these races. So I don't know where I'll be next year, if I'll be in the sport. Obviously, I'd like to think that I will be, but until I get that confirmation, I'm focused on these races," he added.
Should Red Bull choose not to give him a seat at either Red Bull Racing or Visa Cash App RB, Lawson will not have a seat. The New Zealander, therefore, confirmed that he is not talking to other teams: "There's no other seats available."
