Alonso reveals: 'I struggled physically, but I'm out of the darkness'
For the first time since the Singapore GP, Fernando Alonso could score points for Aston Martin. After a long season for the experienced driver, he also feels ready to take a break, similarly to the four-time world champion Max Verstappen.
'Tired' Alonso ready to rest
After a chaotic race at the Losail International Circuit, Fernando Alonso finished in P7 to score six points for Aston Martin, after four weekends past without the team finishing inside the Top 10.
Following the season, the Spaniard has opted not to drive at the end of season tyre test. He now believes he is ready to take some time off, after completing the F1 calendar that consists of 24 Grands Prix weekends. He also revealed that previous, he struggled physically, but now is in better shape. During the Sao Paulo GP, he also told his team that he would only finish the race because the mechanics rebuild his car.
"I'm tired. I'm tired and it's no secret that I've been struggling physically for races now. It seems that I'm now out of the darkness and I feel good today. I felt good in Las Vegas that I wanted to race immediately after Vegas, but I need to stop and take care of myself a little bit as well," the two-time world champion told GPblog among others in Qatar.
