Verstappen comes out with his side of the story about dinner with Russell
- Sandy van Wijngaarden
Max Verstappen and George Russell have made firm statements towards each other at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in the media. In celebration of the final Grand Prix of the season, the F1 drivers went out to dinner together. The empty seats where Verstappen and Russell could sit caused some difficulty.
Recently, many stories about the drivers' dinner have hit the media. At Viaplay, Verstappen told his side of the story. "The dinner was actually very nice. Fun. A lot of laughter too. I can't talk to everyone when the whole table is so big, but we had a good time."
Verstappen announced the next day that he will become a father. He had not informed the drivers at the dinner. The biggest story of the dinner was the fact that Verstappen and Russell sat so far apart.
Russell indeed moved his seat
"It worked out that way," Verstappen said. "I arrived a bit later and then there were only three seats. So I was sitting on the corner and then there were only two seats and he wasn't there yet. So that was actually the perfect moment that he then sat there."
So Russell had indeed deliberately moved his chair. "But no, he didn't want to. He took the chair. I don't really want to talk about it anymore either. It's a waste of time," said the Red Bull Racing driver.
