Horner rules out potential candidate to replace Perez at Red Bull

Red Bull Racing top bosses are having a meeting today, where Sergio Perez's future will be decided. The Mexican is likely to hear this Monday whether he could remain Max Verstappen's teammate for the 2025 season. If Perez were to be replaced, Christian Horner said Franco Colapinto is not considered to replace him.

Christian Horner made it clear to GPblog among others in Abu Dhabi that either Liam Lawson or Yuki Tsunoda are in the running for the second Red Bull seat alongside Verstappen. "They, in the event that anything were decided with Checo, would be the candidates that we would look towards," the team principal explained.

Franco Colapinto was rumoured to be a potential replacement for Perez. The driver who replaced Logan Sargeant after the Dutch Grand Prix is without a seat for next season, but is still contracted to Williams. However, given his latest performances and several crashes, interest has died down from the Austrian's side.

Horner satisfied with Lawson as well as Tsunoda

Thus the choice is between the two drivers that drove for VCARB during the Abu Dhabi GP. "In challenging circumstances, he’s [Lawson] done a very good job if you analyse what he's done in the time that he's had and the race pace that he's had. I think he's done a good job. I think Yuki's done a good job," the Briton said.
