Marko talks about Verstappen's future: 'He then wants to do that with Jos'
Helmut Marko has spoken about Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen's 2024 season from which the Dutchman emerged as World Champion. Looking into the future, the Austrian team's Chief Advisor has an idea of what Verstappen would like to do after his F1 retirement.
Verstappen is a avid racer. From F1 cars, to sim racing, to testing out various types of racing cars all over the world, the Dutchman is always keen on activities which can place him behind the wheel of a speedy four wheeled vehicle. Of course, Verstappen has also stated many times that endurance racing is something he would like to do after he's retired from Formula One.
'I can see Max doing the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Jos'
In interview with ServusTV, Marko lauded Verstappen for his love of all things motorsport and also stated that the marketing and media aspect of F1 is not so enjoyable for the Dutchman, and cited this as a potential reason as to why Verstappen would leave F1 for endurance racing.
"It is clear that he is a racing driver and he loves racing. Although of course the dinge that come with it in Formula 1 are a bit bigger than in other classes, like the marketing stuff and things with the media, for example. But that is why I think he will switch to endurance racing once he decides he is ready in Formula 1. But in a way that suits him," Marko began.
"I think Max's dream is to do the 24 Hours of Le Mans with his father (Jos Verstappen)," he added, shedding some light on Verstappen's post F1 career plans. "At the moment he is also busy with other things if you look at the GT project with the Ferraris. There he is also testing with them and giving tips to Thierry Vermeulen (son of manager Raymond)," the Red Bull advisor concluded.
