Lewis Hamilton has always used his platform to promote equality and talk about human rights issues. During his final weekend where he competed for Mercedes, the seven-time world champion revisited the impact he had had on the team and the world in the recent years.

Hamilton is happy with his legacy at Mercedes

Over the years, Hamilton supported the Black Lives Matter movement wearing shirts at F1 Grands Prix, and together with Sebastian Vettel, uses his platforms to promote equality and talk about worldwide issues on every level. With Mission44, the Briton also hopes towards building a more inclusive future in motorsports.

Hamilton is proud of what he has set in motion in recent years. "I mean, I can't really say too much about the world it's because it's still a bit of a mess. I'm really, really proud of the work. I'm incredibly, incredibly proud of the work that we've done at Mercedes for example in terms of the steps we've taken."

"And the investment from Mercedes, everyone's stepping up and really being a part of and being open to change, and this, the team is far more diverse than it ever has been. It's far more inclusive very open-minded," the Brit continued.

Hamilton also talked about having meetings with for example F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali. A new Diversity and Inclusion charter was agreed by all ten teams and the FIA as well last November.

"Our hope was that the rest in doing so the rest of the sport would follow and I think it has we've just seen Formula One and the FIA and all the teams see the importance of it and now be on board. That's one of the things I'm probably most proud of is being a part of sparking that. I'm truly grateful for everyone that's now on board. I feel like the sport then is moving in the right direction," Hamilton concluded.
